Let's face it right off the bat: the second Transformers movie had mixed reactions from fans around the world. Those who loved the original animated series washed their hands off of the movie, while others found the first one better.

Nonetheless, the millions it made around the world was enough to guarantee us a Transformers 3. 'Dark of the Moon', as it is called, is the final film in the trilogy.

And what can you expect from this movie?

Fans of Megan Fox may be disappointed as she's been 'kicked out' of the movie by director Bay. Her replacement is the Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whitely. The question being asked by the fanbase is simple: is she going to cut it? The magic between Megan & Shia in the movie, crude as it was, worked nicely. Will this be repeated with Rosie remains to be seen.

That is probably the biggest change in the whole franchise.

That, and the fact that we're going to the moon!

I know, human kind has been there, but Transformers 3 takes us back to the Apollo 11 mission with Neil Armstrong finding a Transformer spaceship on the moon. From the looks of it, T3 could break into the 'space battle sci-fi' category this time around.

With that said, there are a couple of issues too.

The first one, like I said, is whether the Shia-Rosie pair work or will Rosie totally overshadow Shia due to her screen presence.

Secondly, like in the first 2 movies, will Bay focus too much on action scenes that make you go "that was cool!", rather than building character and at least a decent plot? Fans of the original series have taken offense to how the Transformers mythology was given a backseat in the first two movies and it remains to be seen whether this one makes the same 'mistake'.

Third, after all is said and done, will Transformers 3 turn out to be any better than the two films before it? Or will it set the standard even lower, like the Resident Evil series did.

Personally, I would like to see some breathtaking action scenes with loads of metal clanking and definitely, some cool explosions. A plot would be the icing on the cake, but as you can understand, we can't be very sure about that.

It's scheduled to be out on July 1, 2011 - a catchy date, and the countdown has already begun.

The best part is that Linkin Park returns with their own contribution to this film as well. 'What I've Done' and 'New Divide' were two songs that defined Transformers 1 and 2 respectively, and Transformers 3 is going to have its own song. Since it's Linkin Park, I think we can forgive what Bay does with the rest of the film.
